The female body has its own unique characteristics, life stages, and health risks. Quality care begins with recognizing and understanding these differences.
Yet, for years, much medical knowledge was based primarily on research involving men. We now know that symptoms and conditions can present differently in women and that risk factors may carry different weight. We aim to help narrow this gender health gap.
That is why women's health plays a key role in our practice.
We view the woman as a whole and pay attention to every stage of life: from menstruation, contraception, and fertility to pregnancy, sexuality, and menopause. We also address mental health, migraines, cardiovascular disease, and other conditions where hormones, sex, and life stage may play a role.
We do not attribute every complaint to hormones. However, we also do not want to overlook the influence of hormones, life stage, and sex-based differences when they are relevant.
Not just treating, but also looking ahead
For us, good women’s healthcare means more than treating symptoms when they arise. We believe prevention and healthy ageing are just as important.
That is why, from the age of 40 onwards, we pay extra attention to women’s cardiovascular health. Around this stage of life, the body undergoes many changes and the risk of cardiovascular disease gradually increases. Events earlier in life — such as high blood pressure, gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia during pregnancy — can also provide important insights into your health later in life.
That is why we look not only at how you feel today, but also at what you can do now to support your health in the future.
Because to us, prevention is about more than simply trying to prevent disease. It also means investing in your energy, vitality and the healthiest possible ageing.
The sooner you understand where you stand, the more you can do to take charge of your health.
Women's health check-up from age 40
We offer an annual "Women's Heart Check" to registered female patients aged 40 and older, unless you are already undergoing annual check-ups for another reason.
During this check, we assess your health, lifestyle, and personal risk factors. We pay special attention to women with a history of cardiovascular disease or breast cancer, a hereditary or family predisposition, and those who experienced complications during pregnancy—such as high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, or recurrent miscarriages.
Together, we review your current health status and what matters to you. Where necessary, we create a personalized prevention plan.
We have long offered a similar annual health check for both men and women aged 60 and older, scheduled during their birth month.
Heard, seen, and taken seriously
In addition to prevention, we consider it just as important that women feel free to discuss their health with us—including symptoms that are difficult to describe, issues you may have been living with for some time, or changes that simply don't feel right to you.
We listen, take a holistic view, and work together to determine the best course of action, paying close attention to your body, your stage of life, and your personal circumstances.
Our ambition is clear: women's healthcare where you feel heard, understood, and medically taken seriously—at every stage of your life.
You are also welcome if you are not a patient of ours
Are you registered with another GP practice but would like to have a women's health check with us? You are welcome to do so. You can visit us as a non-registered patient at the official NZa rate.

To us, women's healthcare is not a separate branch of medicine. It is simply good medicine, with the appropriate attention paid to women.
Please note: the Women's health check-up falls outside regular GP care and is not part of the NPA quality mark.
